Weaving is for everyone! And a fresh fruit treat!

You may or may not know,  I teach art to elementary children.  My goal is to expose them to as many methods,  investigations and cultures as I can in the short time that they are with me.

And what timing! As I wrote this,  the Colorado Dept. Of Education featured me as a spotlight teacher! For weaving!

Which brings me to some exciting news!

Recently,  a friend saw a homemade tabletop loom in the local thrift shop. She purchased it for my teaching and I accepted the challenge!

It had no beater, luckily my husband is willing and able to help me! We worked out a way to hobble together a beater from parts in my studio.

The heddles that are threaded with the weaving yarn,  were dirty and some broken. I washed and revived as many as I could and purchased new to make a good number.

All good! It's working now!

And for this week's treat...a simple favorite! I use this as a filling for French crepes or topping on a waffle, too...

While fresh strawberries are available,  I cut them in to quarters, or slices, dividing them smaller if they are large.  Use a good Greek Yogurt and dark brown sugar. A dollop of the yogurt and a sprinkle of the dark brown sugar on the berries make a fresh dessert, not too decadent, but tasty! Sour cream is a good sub for the yogurt, too!
Have a great week!
