Color and pattern and weave, or are those waves? !

Pattern and texture is all around us and color inspiration is intuitive, personal and powerful!

I love to create woven patterns on my looms.

Sometimes the colors come from a scattering of loops on the table,  other times from a photo or walk in the woods.

Inspiration can come from anywhere. I have seen a window reflection that displayed color as abstract shapes and caught my attention without even knowing what originated the combination!

I make notes and start playing with combinations. The same few colors can be arranged in different order,  quantity and tones.

The result is a new view of aspects of the weave. What is accentuated or what is played down changes.  The same colors woven in the same design with one new color added will have unity and enhance each other to create a cohesive set!

Challenge yourself.  Choose a pattern and a few colors and see what happens when they are rearranged, reversed, or exchanged in the warp or weft.

A small experiment like this can go along way in your creative journey.

What will you create this week?

Perhaps a fun bake! Kitchen creativity counts!

It was my husband's birthday, so a great excuse to bake.  We were kayaking with friends and these were easy to make ahead, freeze, and toss in the cooler for after the paddle.

I used a high altitude cupcake recipe for chocolate cupcakes, adding a pinch of instant espresso. The buttercream is butter, powdered sugar, a 1/8 teaspoon mint extract and 2 Tablepoons of Bailey's! Yum!
Here are my base recipes
