I am still spinning this beauty! The Tour de Fleece continues to help me create a daily practice. It is part muscle memory, discipline and a great way to compact my fleece storage! One little hank vs a bowling ball of fleece!!
But if you know me, staying in one place too long gets my brain gears turning and I am looking at the next challenge. Small goals suit me, in rotation with other goals.
This is my spin break from studio clean-up. Everyone needs to reorganize at some time. This is huge! My studio is bigger than my house, and it was the recipient of the contents from our multiple studios in Michigan.
I am finding materials in boxes that haven't even been opened yet!
It also has me looking at what my future projects could be. The organization methods is this..
1- is it trash?
2- can it be donated?
3- will I really make something with it?
4- set up a limited space for each type of art making and try to stick with it!
I do revisit and combine artworks, so this is not an easy task!
I now have a printmaking, wood carving, 3d printing, encaustic, drawing/painting, weaving and spinning and dyeing are designated. Weaving includes basketweaving. Clay stays downstairs in Jim's studio.
How long do I think that I will be working on this earth? I don't know, but it seems like a good plan to keep moving with my interests!
If you do a clean-up of any magnitude, I strongly suggest reaching out to art teachers and community to share what you are no longer interested in doing or using. I have received invaluable donations for my kids! So appreciated!
I recently received the cores from weaving cotton tubes for my art classroom! Such a treat for my young creatives! 💕
The act of identifying and sorting has been a good one. It has kept me focused on a goal and I am enjoying the results...and it has helped me with my patience, as I await my color samples and yarn to swatch for my gansey sweater project! Next!
